But determining whether your district's school library is up to today's educational standards is sometimes difficult for parents to determine. Here is a checkist of things to look for in a school school library that is relevant to a child's education in the 21st century...

1. There is a qualified teacher librarian managing the library and coordinates curriculum materials with classroom teachers.
2. The library is open whenever the school is open. 3. Students learn information literacy and internet searching and management skills in the school library. 4. Students have access to the resources they need, when they need them (through either borrowing printed materials or using quality online resources). 5. There aren’t long waiting lists for popular fiction. 6. There’s more than enough space for a whole class to fit into the library. 7. There is high speed access to the internet. 8. Students are shown how to use a wide variety of online electronic resources including those from the deep web, not just Google. 9. There are special activities that encourage reading. 10. Your child thinks the school library is ‘awesome’! |

You can help! Keeping the links on a website up-to-date is a very difficult thing for one person to do. So I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know (by clicking here) if you find links that are no longer active. Plus, if you find any new cool educational sites, let me know about those too, Thanks.
